Class Descriptions Fall Schedule
The following descriptions delineate our fall class break-downs. Every August this page is updated for the next September-May studio season.
BALLET |
Poise, posture, balance, and flexibility. Dancers of all styles benefit from regular training in this classical form. Ballet 1-3 students take once weekly, but twice weekly may be an option; speak to our staff. Levels 4-8 meet two to three times weekly. Classes can be taken individually as a pre-requisite to other forms, but must meet instructor consent. In these cases ballet performance opportunity is not offered.
All pointe candidates must pass the Perfect Pointe System evaluation.
Ballet 1 - Students previously enrolled in CM4 or new students 8+. Meets once per week.
Ballet 2 - Students previously enrolled in Ballet 1 or instructor consent. Meets once per week.
Ballet 3 - Students previously enrolled in Ballet 2 or instructor consent. Meets once per week.
Ballet 4-5 Students previously enrolled in PB3 and Ballet 1. Class meets 2 times per week; 75 minute class.
Ballet 6 Class meets 3xs times weekly; 90 minute class + twice monthly, Saturdays.
Ballet 7 Class meets 3xs times weekly; 90 minute class + twice monthly, Saturdays
Adult Beginning Ballet Geared to the adult returning to the love of ballet and new beginners. Exercises are all modifiable to the student's physical needs
Adult Intermediate Ballet 75-minute class. Exercises are all modifiable to the student's physical needs.
TINY TOTS & CREATIVE MOVEMENT |
Tiny Tots is a high energy fun course specifically designed for 2-3 year olds learning alongside their caregiver. Tots & their grownup will experience music, movement, rhythm, & other key developmental concepts through rhyming, singing, moving, & sensory activities.
Creative Movement includes elements of ballet, jazz, folk, and tap which are presented through fun teaching methods such as stories games and props. Emphasis will be in motor skill development, rhythm and spatial awareness.
Creative Movement 1 3 1/2 years (birthday by 5/31) - 4 years. Curriculum alternates years for youngsters who start young.
Creative Movement 2 Second year MarLo 4 year olds and 5 year olds not yet in kindergarten.
Creative Movement 3 5 year olds in Kindergarten. Class may include tap in the spring. May also be a good fit for new 1st graders.
Creative Movement 4 First grade combo tap/ballet. This is a transitional class for Ballet 1 and Tap 1.

HIP HOP |
Energetic, freestyle form evolved from break and street dancing. Our classes are specifically geared to boys and new students, but all dancers are welcome.
Hip Hop 1 Introductory. 9-13 years.
Hip Hop 2, 3, 4, 5 Instructor consent.
Adult Hip Hop Beginning No experience needed. Fun and upbeat group class.
JAZZ & CONTEMPORARY |
Jazz and Contemporary are a natural progression for the ballet student. Jazz, an upbeat style of dance, stems from ballet. Pop music is most often used, but the style can also be theatrical. Contemporary is a challenging fusion of jazz and ballet. Choreography is often characterized by gripping emotion and/or storytelling. Jazz students will be at an advanced beginning level while Contemporary students will be working at an intermediate or higher level of ballet.
Both Jazz and Contemporary requires enrollment in a minimum of one ballet class a week
Jazz 1 Requires minimum Ballet 4 level.
Jazz 2 & 3 Instructor consent.
Contemporary 3 Requires minimum Ballet 6 level.

TAP |
Tap is an American style of dance making a huge resurgence in the dance world. Rhythmic skills are developed as tap feet become percussive instruments. Strength and control of the legs, ankles, and feet are increased.
Tap 1 Creative Movement 4 graduates and new 8+.
Tap 2 Previously enrolled Tap 1
Tap 3, 4, 5, 6 Instructor consent.
Adult Tap Beginning Never tapped or it's been decades? This is the class for you.
Adult Tap Intermediate Instructor consent.
Adult Tap Advanced Instructor consent.
ADULT FITNESS & DANCE CLASSES |
Adult Dance classes are enrollment structure. These classes build on the previous weeks experience.
Adult Ballet Beginning – Geared to the adult returning to the love of ballet. Exercises are all modifiable to the student's physical needs.
Adult Ballet Intermediate – 75 minute class. Exercises are all modifiable to the student's physical needs.
Adult Tap Beginning – Never tapped or it's been decades? This is the class for you, in an adult enviroment of fun comraderie.
Adult Tap Intermediate – Instructor consent.
Adult Hip Hop Beginning/Intermediate - No experience required. Fun and upbeat group class.
Adult Fitness are drop-in or punch card classes. No enrollment.
Yoga-Lates
Yoga-Lates is a workout that combines the best elements of yoga and pilates. A total body toner. The Pilates elements give you strength and muscle definition while the Yoga offers flexibility and relaxation.
